Skellig Michael off the Kerry Coast, renowned for its monastic settlement where monks used to live before being routed by raiders. Little Skellig in the background is one of the largest gannet colonies in existence. There is also a lighthouse there and the remains of an earlier one. buy a print |

Eagle Island off the Mayo coast, to the north west of Belmullet, one of the most storm damaged lighthouses in Ireland. Look closely in the above picture and you will see a high defence wall, beyond is tons of rubble courtesy of violent storms which have seen waves rise up those 300 foot high cliffs.
