Local organisers and helpers who assisted in making Paul O'Shea's dream a reality to connect a cable to Crow Head Island following in the footsteps of a farmer in the 1950s who ferried sheep across to the island in a home made cable car because the grass was better quality there. l-r Marc Jeisy, Carl Dixon, Brian O' Connor, Paul O Shea, Pat Kelly, Aoife O'Sullivan, Tiernan Mooney, Noel Howard, Joe Hanley, Kenneth Flood and Johnny O'Toole |
The event was watched by quite a large number of people. Not an easy place to get to so it means so much more than so many made the effort to go out to Crow Head to watch the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team and local Beara Cliff and Rescue personnel in action. These are the people who train to save your life should you get into difficulties. In the middle distance is the Castletownbere RNLI boat Annette Hutton |

The Castletownbere Regatta saw one of the best bands ever play there, the Springsteens a Bruce Springsteen tribute band and it was attended by a huge crowd that filled The Square. Here is a collection of my favourite shots. Prints available |
