CV
John Eagle first started painting with oils in 1991 in Allihies, Beara
Peninsula. The first time he publicly exhibited work was at the Beara Arts
Show in Castletownbere in 1993. The painting was 'Stone Response'.
After this initial exhibition John then concentrated on his photography,
making postcards of lighthouses and also working on his book 'An Eagle's
View of Irish Lighthouses'. Tom Mac Sweeney, of RTÉ television, launched
this book at the Maritime Museum, Dún Laoghaire, in 1999. During this time
John painted a few works using a variety of methods excluding oils.
At the Beara Arts Show 2000 he exhibited again using oils, just one
painting in monochrome called 'Seine Boat'. He says. 'I had my arm twisted
by someone, who urged me to exhibit something. So I painted one for the
show.' Spurred on by this success he exhibited two oils the following year
at the same show. Later that year he exhibited at the Christmas Fair in
Castletownbere.
In July 2004 he completed his project to make a postcard of every lighthouse on the Irish coastline. The full colour postcards can be purchased singly or in sets of 99. Details can be found at:

Eyeries in West Cork.
'I viewed your work & its fantastic bold strong simple, I love the way the whole landscape feels like a fabric resting over an ever changing landscape its vast yet lends itself to a feeling of finding a place of rest I love it' .........
