Oil paintings of Beara landscapes by John Eagle

I paint from the heart, working my brush the way my mood takes me. I will often spend hours, if not days developing my paintings to get them the way I want them to be. I rarely look at pictures, as I paint from memory. I like to paint dark in order to make the important subject matter come alive. My oils come alive when the spotlights touch them and then you come into the world I have created for you

My work can be viewed at Cleo Gallery, Kenmare and The Bantry Craft Shop, Glengarriff Road, Bantry, Co. Cork.

Moonlight in the Beara Valley

'Moonlight in the Beara Valley'

In memory of Dick Grogan who passed away on the day I painted this oil, something I didn't learn until after I had painted it. Dick boosted my confidence as a painter, arranging a show for me at the Old Market Arts Centre in Dungarvan 2005. Over ten years he bought several of my oils, often giving me sound advice along the way. He showed my work to people all over Ireland. Rest in peace Dick, a true gentleman

Daybreak

'Daybreak #2'

When Daybreak #1 went to be exhibited in a gallery in the States I was distraught and began to miss it terribly, so I painted another to take its place. Now I have both of them in my Beara Light Gallery where you can come and look at them if you so wish, but please make an appointment first. |I suppose there will come a day when they will sell. but until they do I will enjoy them to their full. I mean they are like children to me, I created them with a great deal of love and dedication, and it is often painfully hard for me to part with my work. I only hope they go to good homes

On show at the Beara Light Gallery, can be viewed by appointment only
